I found this canister set at a local thrift store. It was just what I needed in my kitchen and the price was right.

The wood was dirty and dried out looking, so I tested rubbing Coconut Oil onto the one on the left.
I am seriously in love with Coconut Oil, I use it a lot for MANY different things. If you follow this blog you will discover my addiction to Coconut Oil
So since the test one came out so good, I rubbed the others down with the Oil.
I just scooped out a tiny amount with my finger and rubbed it into the wood. Once the entire lid was coated, I took a soft cloth and buffed the excess off.

Looking GOOD!!
Since everything stored in these canisters is white, and I have a typical family, I know that I have to label these with the contents or someone will use powdered sugar in place of the flour. I wanted something durable. Something that wouldn't come off when covered with flour, so I decided to just write on the lids with a Sharpie.
I have horrible handwriting. My mother always told me that I should be a doctor because my handwriting is so atrocious. So I printed off my labels in a font that looks like it was handwritten.

Now, how do I put a long, straight word onto a round lid?

I used a dried up pen and traced the letters onto the lid

This is the Sugar lid, you can just see the dent the pen left in the wood.

The finished Flour lid

The finished set!

Quick, Easy, Cheap!!

Thanks for stopping by, check back often for more projects and let me see projects you have done that were inspired my mine.
